So, I recently came across a survey that mentions the views of various expert researchers (mentioned as contributors in the image above) on the state of DL and its future in terms of both research and applications. This survey, in particular, includes 6 questions and each expert’s response to it. It is supposed to be the first article in a series which will include more surveys periodically in the future. So, that’s exciting.

If you are a DL researcher who is still searching (like me) for a field that excites you the most, you should give it a read. Here’s the link:

Perspectives on the State and Future of Deep Learning -- 2023

Anyway, below are some of the views that I found relatable, interesting, new, and, well, worth a takeaway in general.

Could Someone Be More Memorable?

I still remember watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S. for the first time and being impressed by how real every character seemed. All their lives were no different than what a usual person. To me, every character represented specific qualities in people. “Chandler Bing” represents the awkward, open, funny, charming, yet real person. Over the years, unlike most TV show characters, “Chandler” has become an adjective.

No one could have portrayed Chandler as good as Matthew Perry, and along with Matt LeBlanc (Joey), he gave the world the perfect friendship display.

No level of respect and love Chandler gets is enough for what Matt Perry produced. Chandler is the “Einstein” in the sitcom world, setting the perfect example for future characters. Chandler’s legacy will live on with F.R.I.E.N.D.S., and Matt Perry won’t be forgotten anytime soon. The Chandler references will keep on coming up daily. Long Live Chandler!
